Pearl Whiskers is a community group caring for the cats of The Pearl Island. This note explains, in plain language, what we do with the details you share when you apply to adopt or contact us. We keep it simple on purpose, and we collect as little as we can.
What we collect
When you apply to adopt or get in touch, we collect only what we need to help you:
- Your name
- Your contact details (WhatsApp and email)
- The neighbourhood you live in, so we can connect you with the right volunteer
- Your language preference and anything you choose to tell us in your message
We do not ask for ID numbers, financial details, or any sensitive personal information, and we ask you not to send them.
Why we collect it
We use your details only to process your adoption or enquiry: to contact you, arrange a meet and greet, and guide you through the steps. We don't sell or share your information, and we won't add you to any mailing list without asking you first.
Where it's kept
Your details are stored in our private records and sent through our email provider so we can reply to you. Access is limited to the volunteers who help with adoptions.
How long we keep it
We keep adoption records only as long as they're useful. If an application doesn't go ahead, we delete it within a few months. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
Your choices
You can always ask us to:
- See what details we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop contacting you
Just let us know and we'll take care of it.
